The theme of this exchange tour was ‘understanding sustainable agriculture in modern China’. It combined the elements of investigation and experience to allow local youth in Hong Kong to explore the changes in the agricultural industry in mainland over these 30 years. It encouraged them to think about challenges and opportunities in agricultural development and understood the importance of sustainable development. They learned more about the living environment and habits of the locals, mutual respect regardless of cultural differences, and the importance of food.

This tour provided the youths firsthand experience about agriculture in China. They now have better understanding about food sources and new agricultural technology. It also helped with their perseverance and independence, to allow them to reflect and cherish what they have at the moment. Besides, the tour consisted of a number of activities, for example working in farm and field orienteering to strength their endurance and team spirits.
